A 42 year-old woman from Cloverdale, California plead not guilty this week to two counts of grand theft totalling more than $100,000, five counts of forgery, and one count of illegal narcotics possession. She is accused of stealing over $400,000 from her employers at a Santa Rose school for at-risk children. Court documents claim she forged her boss' signature on hundreds of checks she made out to herself and deposited over a two and a half year period.
The woman has worked for the school since 2005 as a business manager. Her alleged forged checks went undetected by the bank, annual audits, and district reviews. Prosecutors say that she stole the money to fund her addiction to prescribed narcotic drugs like Oxycotin and hydrocodone. The woman was on probation for perscription drug forgery when she was arrested.
