A man in Appleton pleaded guilty to a charge of first-degree rape stemming from an 2003 assault.
According to court documents, 31 year-old Donnell Thomas Bellamy pleaded guilty before County Circuit Court Judge Paul A. Hackner. Bellamy attacked a 13 year-old girl on July 2, 2003. Police say the victim was walking to a friends house around 12:30 a.m. when she was stopped "two minutes" from her fathers house by a man in a dark car. The man said if she didn't get in, he would kill her, Assistant State Attorney Kathleen Rogers said.
Bellamy was charged after DNA samples were matched to genetic material recovered from cold cases in state and federal databases. Authorities got a hit earlier this year and detectives arrested Bellamy at his home in Appleton.
