Appleton man charged with assaulting 11-year-old girl

A man from Appleton is currently being held on charges of sexually assaulting an 11-year-old girl.

The 24-year-old man allegedly met the girl over the Internet, where the two began a relationship. He drove to her house in Chicago last Wednesday morning to meet her and take her back to his apartment in Appleton. The girl's mother reported her missing, and police found that the girl was at the man's apartment through phone calls and text messages.

Police officials have reported that there is evidence of sexual assault of the girl. The man is being charged with first-degree sexual assault and is being held on a bond of $100,000.
