Wife of Marine Acquitted of Murder Charges

by Administrator 4. June 2008 04:06
A woman facing murder charges has been acquitted of the charges after a judge ruled the killing self-defense. Joy Medley, the wife of a Marine, spent six months in jail and found her way onto the Naval Criminal Investigative Service’s “Most Wanted” list of fugitives for some time before her trial. Last Thursday, Medley was acquitted of the charges brought against her after Judge Larry Burns ruled that there was simply not enough evidence to warrant a murder or manslaughter conviction. He ended the trial before the defense attorney could even start his case. There was never any doubt that Mrs. Medley had stabbed her husband, there was only doubt about whether or not it was done in self-defense. According to Medley, her husband was a good man but became incredibly abusive when he consumed alcohol. She noted that he had hit her several times during the night of his death.
