Brian Kinstler

Attorney Brian Kinstler has been with Kohler & Hart since 2001, and devotes his entire practice to criminal law. As the firm's senior associate, he represents criminal defendants in state and federal courts throughout Wisconsin and beyond. Brian is also the firm's lead appellate lawyer, and regularly handles cases before the Wisconsin Supreme Court, the Wisconsin Court of Appeals, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit.

Attorney Kinstler received his law degree from the University of Iowa College of Law in 2000. During law school, he served as case editor in the moot court program, worked as a law clerk with the Office of the Federal Public Defender for the Northern District of Iowa, and successfully tried criminal cases in state court under the Iowa student practice rule.

Attorney Kinstler graduated with a Bachelors Degree in Anthropology and English Literature from Rutgers University in 1989. He received a Masters Degree in Linguistics from the University of Iowa in 1996. Prior to attending law school, Attorney Kinstler was a graduate fellow in linguistics program at the University of Pennsylvania.

Attorney Kinstler is licensed to practice in the state of Wisconsin, the Federal District Court for the Eastern District of Wisconsin, and the Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals.
