Wisconsin Laws on Sexual Assault
There are many laws throughout Wisconsin that are associated with the act of sexual contact or intercourse without consent. These include the following:
- First degree sexual assault is sexual contact or intercourse performed without consent and causing great bodily harm or impregnation, or through the act of threatening with a dangerous weapon. This crime is considered a class B felony.
- Second degree sexual assault is sexual contact or intercourse performed with an unconscious or severely intoxicated individual, or sexual assault performed with the use or threat of violence, or sexual assault that results in serious injury, illness or disease. This is considered a class C felony.
- Third degree sexual assault is rape, the act of sexual intercourse performed without consent for the purpose of sexual degradation. Rape is a class G felony.
- Fourth degree sexual assault is sexual contact with a non-consensual individual, also commonly known as molestation. This is considered a class A misdemeanor.
