Dudas scheduled for sentencing in sexual assault case

Forty-nine-year-old former Appleton and Stevens Point attorney, David Dudas, could spend the rest of his life in jail after he was found guilty of almost 30 crimes against his own wife, with his sentencing scheduled for 9:30 a.m. today.

According to criminal complaints lodged against him by his wife, Dudas sexually assaulted her repeatedly in July 2013. She said she was able to leave the house and escape from him by climbing though a window in their house and jumping from it while their children contacted the police.

Dudas has been convicted of first degree sexual assault, 14 counts of second degree sexual assault, and 11 counts of strangulation and suffocation. His sentencing will take place at the Outagamie County Court.

Sexual assault trial starts for Appleton attorney David Dudas

Forty-nine-year-old Appleton, Wisconsin attorney David Dudas, who is from Dale, and who is accused of beating and sexually molesting his wife over the course of a year, faced initial trial proceedings on Monday, April 22.

Dudas’ defense attorney, Andrew Erlandson, said that the couple had been fond of making their sex life colorful, adding that “evidence will show this is unusual sex, but it was consensual”, during his opening statement.

Outagamie County District Attorney Carrie Schneider, for her part, said Dudas’ affinity for violent porn made him rape his wife for a year and forced her to agree to his sexual inclinations under the threat of physical abuse.

Dudas is facing charges of second-degree reckless injury, 14 counts of second-degree sexual assault, first-degree sexual assault, substantial battery, and 12 counts of suffocation, plus misdemeanor battery and intimidation of a witness.
